Journaling Your Way to Success

One of the things that helps me stay focused and committed to my goals and dreams is keeping a success journal. A success journal is just what it sounds like – a record of your accomplishments.

It seems so simple, yet it is an effective tool for changing your life. If you keep track of what you’ve done right, it is easier to hang on when it seems like everything is falling apart around you.

How do you start a success journal?

1. List successes you had in school. Were you on the honor roll? Did you start a club? Look through your files. Do you have copies of achievement certificates? List anything you can remember!

2. Think of things that you do right in your relationships. Do you help others? Have you made someone smile today?

3. What have you done right at work? What things have you done to help the bottom line?

4. Think of obstacles that you have overcome.

5. Enlist a friend to help. Sometimes it is easier for us to remember our failures.

If you take the time to remember and record your successes, you have a powerful tool to keep yourself on track. Keeping track of your successes is one way to sure that you have more of them! We get what we focus on.

Fresh Start

1

A few years ago, I switched jobs and locations.  In my head, I thought I would make a fresh start.  However, after about six months, I found my way back in to old ways of acting and communicating.  Why is it so hard for us to change?  I think a lot of it has to do with our programming.  According to Anthony Robbins we don’t make a change until we have either more pain from continuing along the same course, or perceive more pleasure in changing than in remaining the same.  I think I didn’t sense a pleasure in changing.  Now, I’m back on the right track and feeling good.
Setbacks will come your way – just be prepared to overcome them!

Keep Your Dreams Alive

Skiathos, Greece
This is Skiathos  - a wonderful island in Greece where parts of Mamma Mia was filmed.  One of my life dreams was to visit Greece.  I truly believe that if you have a worthwhile goal,  you can accomplish it – and other people will help you do it.  Thanks to my wonderful parents, I was able to secure a timeshare on this island.

The funny thing is, when I watched Mamma Mia, I said, “I want to go there.” I meant Greece.  God has a sense of humor, because the island I ended up on was the one where parts of the movie were filmed.

Keep your dreams alive – you never know when they might come true!
