It seems like yesterday, but it was really almost 15 years ago when I got to watch a centuries-old tradition while studying on the Isle of Man. The parliament held on Tynwald day is said to be the oldest continuous parliament in the world. It was fascinating to watch the ceremony, which is held on Tynwald Hill. Each year, usually on July 5th (only different if the day falls on a Saturday or Sunday), the parliament meets here. I highly recommend visiting during this time. It is a great experience.
At one time the Stanley family were the Lords of Man, so this tenuous tie with Richard III made the event even more interesting to me.
